IS TAIWAN AN INDEPENDENT COUNTRY OR A CHINESE TERRITORY?

China believes there is only one China called the People's Republic of China[PRC].On the other hand, Taiwan claims that they are real China called the Republic of China[ROC]. Only 14 countries recognize Taiwan as a sovereign country. Belize, Haiti, Vatican City, Honduras, the Marshall Islands, Nauru, Palau, Paraguay, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Tuvalu and Guatemala—recognize Taiwan as an independent country. More than 170 countries recognized Taiwan as a Chinese territory and support the one china policy. One China principle is the position held by the People's Republic of China (PRC) that there is only one sovereign state under the name China, with the PRC serving as the sole legitimate government of that China, and Taiwan is a part of China.

China and Taiwan are located in East Asia. China is the country which borders the 14 neighbouring countries which is the most of any country in the world. Taiwan is an island which is just 100 miles away from China.
China has more than 1.402 billion population whereas Taiwan has more than 23.57 billion population. China is the third largest country whose an area is 9.597 million km. sq. Taiwan has 36,197 km.sq.

In 1945, Japan unconditionally surrendered with the signing of the instrument of surrender and ended its rule in Taiwan as the territory was put under the administrative control of the  China government 1945 after America attacked Japan with a nuclear bomb. In December 1949, the Republic of China Armed Forces and the Kuomintang were defeated in the Chinese Civil War, forcing the Government of the Republic of China to relocate to Taiwan. This allowed the Chinese Communist Party to declare the establishment of a new Chinese state: the People's Republic of China. Earlier before the Chinese Communist Party [CCP], Kuomintang[KMT] used to rule China. During the Sino-Japnese war[in 1937-1945] both CCP and KMT fought against Japan then Japan depart from china. Slowly they left Taiwan but they didn't say they left whether for KMT or CCP. At that time the leader of KMT and CCP was Chiang kai-Shek and Mao Zedong respectively. After the defeat of the KMT, Chiang Kai-Shek went to Taiwan in 1949. After the 1911 AD revolution KMT party rule china and there was only one party system. When Japan depart from China and Taiwan  KMT party ruled but in 1949 CCP defeat KMT  and rule China. KMT was a nationalist party whereas CCP was the communist party. when  KMT lost the civil war they shift to Taiwan and rule Taiwan but according to the 1911 AD  one-party rule system, it should be the territory of mainland of China.

At that time CCP didn't invade Taiwan because Taiwan was an island. As Taiwan was an island mainland china didn't have proper modern military facilities to invade Taiwan. As per the PRC, Taiwan's sovereignty belongs to China, the PRC's government and supporters believe that the secession of Taiwan should be agreed upon by all 1.3 billion Chinese citizens instead of just the 23 million residents of Taiwan. Now, China is the second most powerful economic country in the world. Being small an island Taiwan is one of the best economic islands. Computer technology is one that Taiwan had contributed to the world. Despite Taiwan isn't recognized by the UN and most of the countries Taiwan has its own constitution and it's  Democratic. Mainland China is very powerful both economically and military as compared to  Taiwan. China is a nuclear country. Mainland China can invade Taiwan at any time to save its sovereignty.
